Information for Wrestling Season (January 21, 2018)

Parents and Wrestlers,

Thank you to the varsity parents and coaches who drove this past Saturday to the Woodberry Forest School. A HUGE thank you to Wendy Morgan for supplying numerous beautiful flowers for Senior Night. Also, thank you to the parents for volunteering on Senior Night.

This is the last week of the season for junior varsity. Attendance has been low lately. We would like to finish the season strong. Each wrestler needs to be at each practice on time this week in order to participate in the junior varsity conference tournament on Thursday and the junior varsity regional tournament on Friday.

The Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior State Tournament is Saturday, March 3 and Super States is on Sunday, March 4 at Riverbend High School. This is not affiliated with our season and is considered an out-of-season tournament. We recommend all of our wrestlers enter these tournaments (not mandatory). These are great tournament for both junior varsity and varsity wrestlers. The two tournaments are separate so a wrestler can do one or both. Wrestlers can continue to practice in February to prepare for this tournament. Information can be found here.

Practice times have changed this week due to the end of the semester. Wrestlers should stay after with teachers or be with the athletic trainers until practice starts at 4PM.

  3. Concussion Education
    • All student athletes and a parent must complete a concussion education program every school year according to Virginia law. The program will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Upon successful completion, the school will be able to verify that you have completed the program. This process occurs automatically and you will not be required to provide a certificate of completion. Students and parents must complete separate programs. Parents need only complete the program once for all their children participating in FCPS athletics if they register each child's FCPS ID number prior to viewing the slideshow. • Must be signed by parents and wrestlers. This must be completed once a year for athletes. If an athlete completed this for a fall sport in 2017, then it does not need to be completed again.
