Our conditioning for tomorrow (2/3) night is cancelled.
From Thursday, 2/4 – Saturday, 2/20 the coaches are in a quiet period. No communication between athletes & coaches; parent to coaches allowed. Fall sports start Thursday, 2/4. Good luck to our multi-sport athletes.
For those not playing fall sports please do your best to follow the suggestions of Coaches Alonge & Re; also attached.
Coach Alonge’s workout plan:
go through these circuits three times:
stretch
20 jumping jacks
20 air squats
20 push ups
1 minute plank
rest
20 knee to chest vertical jumps
20 lunges (10 each leg)
20 incline push-ups (feet on ground, hands on stairs/couch/chair to create an incline)
1 minute leg lifts (3 to 6 inch off ground)
rest
10 burpees
20 alternating toe touch (10 each leg; on your back. https://youtu.be/85An59VrtDo (demo)
20 decline push-ups (legs up on chair/bench/couch/stairs to create a decline)
1minute wall sit
stretch
Always stretch. Stretching builds strength and helps with agility and speed.
Everyone should try to run every day; possibly a mile or more. If not, shuttle runs, sprints, indoor bike, etc. Build up your cardio. When weather and conditions permit, running up the stairs is good and will help build leg strength. Those who have jump ropes should use them.
Coach Re’s stick work plan:
Wall ball; at least once a day.
25 left
25 right
25 catch right throw left
25 catch left throw right
25 Canadian right
25 Canadian left
Poles should long pass if they have a friend/parent that will join them.
Also watch lacrosse; college just started. There’s a great game Friday 2/5 at 3 pm; Duke vs. Denver.
Our season begins Monday April 12th; first game hosting Robinson Monday, April 26th.
Thank you.

Our 2021 season will begin on April 12th with the first game on April 26th in a 9 game regular season. It doesn’t look like any in-season tournaments are viable; the district tournament is a maybe at this point, a shortened Regional tournament from June 14-19 & a State tournament from June 22-June 26.
Fairfax County Public Schools will move into Phase III on Tuesday, Sept. 8th. What that provides is additional opportunities for conditioning with the use of sticks. At this point no gloves or helmets. Physicals, emergency care form & concussions are required to participate. Pre-participation temperature checks & player health questionnaire required for each event. Social distancing & disinfectants stressed. VHSL Physicals & concussion reviews can be emailed to Ms. Bishop our ATC at: kabishop@fcps.edu. Please email your emergency care info back to me.
To use sticks without helmets & gloves doesn’t sound safe to me. To focus on conditioning only at this point doesn’t increase our lacrosse IQ nor improve our stick skills or shooting mechanics.
When we can schedule green days with coaches interacting with fully equipped players we will be front & center. In the meantime please get your physicals, complete the concussion reviews & email your emergency care forms so we are ready to go. Playing wall ball or catch is also a terrific idea.
Thank you.
